Why Study Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Graduates of the programme can be in a broad area of applications which include industries such as integrated circuit(IC), automotive, aerospace, power plants, telecommunication and many more.

You can analyse, test, design, construct, and manage various engineering systems and be involved in the advancement of industries including automotive, aeronautical, robotics, software, manufacturing, semiconductor and building services industries.

The structure of the programme provides an opportunity for industrial experience and specialisation in the final year. The industrial placement emphasises the relevance of the programme, increases confidence and enhances employment prospects. The idea of this attachment is to enable students to gain first-hand experience in the industry as well as an insight into how theories are put into practice in real engineering situations. This short attachment in the industry is beneficial as it provides the intellectual challenge to students especially in the final year and when carrying out their final year project.
This Electrical and Electronic programme provides a well-established balance between theory and practice. The curriculum consists of a good mix of general courses in Electrical and Electronic as well as offering three elective courses (Electronics/Electrical/Communication). We aspire to develop all-rounded students through our electrical and electronic engineering courses in Penang, Malaysia.

Graduates of a dual award degree programme receive a degree award from both UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College and our partner university. A dual award degree programme constitutes completion of a single programme of study and is differentiated from a double –degree.

The accreditation of this programme will be done by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and not Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC). Hence, this 3-years BSc. (Hons) programme is not recognised by Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).

Academic Qualification

Pass STPM with NGMP 2.0 / Grade C in Mathematics and Physical Science subject (Physics/Chemistry)


GCE A Level:
Pass A-Level with Principal Pass in Mathematics and Physical Science subject (Physics/Chemistry)


5 Credits (Min B6) including Mathematics and one Science subject


Matriculation / Foundation:
Pass with CGPA ≥ 2.00 including Mathematics and Science subject


Australian Matriculation/ Foundation:
ATAR score of 70


International Baccalaureate (IB):
27/42 points from 6 subjects


Diploma in Engineering:
