Trip to Palace of Justice, Putrajaya

The Istana Kehakiman or Palace of Justice is a majestic building, and houses the judicial department and courts. The Palace of Justice comprises of the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Malaysia, the Highest Court in Malaysia. UOW Malaysia KDU Law society organised a trip to Palace of Justice, Putrajaya on 26th February 2019.

Once the students arrived, they been given a basic briefing regarding the hierarchy courts in Malaysia. Students divided into two group where one group witnessed a criminal case in the Federal Court and the other, a civil case in the Court of Appeal. They had a chance to go courtroom see and learned how the court proceedings are conducted and how legal arguments can be made in an effective way.

The students had the opportunity to visit the library where they able to go through all the books related to law and law reports. The students had a mini challenge proposed by one of the staffs, whoever able to find the oldest book in the library will receive a prize. The visit completed with a group photo at the main entrance of the Palace of Justice.

It was a fruitful and knowledgeable visit. The court visit to Palace of Justice help the students learn a lot of a things which an extra input apart learning from academic.
