Institutions of higher education are inspecting the approaches they use to enhance student employability and are working out various measures to grow and strengthen this.

With greater resources and research being put towards refining employability at higher education level, what has led to its prioritization for a high amount of institutions?

A career fair is an event that gives students and employers a chance to meet one another, establish professional relationships, and discuss potential job or internship opportunities. What is most unique about a career fair is that employers choose to attend these events in order to meet and recruit excellent candidates UOW Malaysia KDU’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (SHTCA) Career and Internship Fair was held on 28th March 2019 at Multipurpose Hall, UOW Malaysia KDU. It is a yearly career and internship fair event organised by the school. The primary objective of this distinctive event is to bond the gap between UOW Malaysia KDU graduates and real industry players. It encompasses the full educational spectrum of values from imparting knowledge and understanding to developing skills and attributes.

The event supported out by UOW Malaysia KDU’s SHTCA succeeded to save interest from over 40 brands and employers participated in this event such as Marriott International (Malaysia), Hilton Worldwide, Shangri-la Hotel and Resorts, Star Cruise – Genting Cruise Lines Ship Management and many more enormous companies. Current and Graduating students would be able to engage and interact with their future employers on career possibilities and options available, besides ex-changing views on the current demand from the industry.

General employability skills are important because the labour market is intensely competitive, and employers are looking for people who are flexible, take the initiative and have the ability to undertake a variety of tasks in different environments. SHTCA provides students and graduates ample opportunities for jobs and internships upon graduation with smart collaborations and partnerships established with industry partners locally and internationally.
